Spinosad is a systemic contact and stomach insecticide with both preventive and curative action, used to control insects from the orders Lepidoptera, Diptera, Siphonaptera, Thysanoptera, and certain Coleoptera in various crops. It is also secondarily effective against sucking insects and mites. Spinosad acts on the central nervous system of insects by binding to acetylcholine receptors, causing prolonged activation. This leads to paralysis due to neuromuscular fatigue. The paralysis is irreversible, and insect death occurs within three (3) days.
